Our Mission
At Begin Again Homes, we are dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing environment for individuals experiencing homelessness. Our mission is to empower every individual by offering essential services and support to help them rebuild their lives. We believe everyone deserves a second chance and a place to call home.
We believe that health and safety cannot be achieved unless shelter is established and maintained for a period of time not less than three months. Recovering from the tragedy of becoming unsheltered requires critical milestones for growth and health are attained, each of which demands time and ongoing support.
*If no immediate shelter is available through BAH or other housing resources, BAH will pay for hotel stays for interims not to exceed one month, provided that certain criteria are met by the client.*
Executive Summary
Begin Again Homes Inc. is a non-profit organization serving Apache Junction, Arizona, which aims to
provide stable, safe, and private housing at no-cost for a period not more than four months, to
members of the community who are currently unsheltered due to economic distress. Apache Junction does not have an emergency shelter available, section 8 housing continues to maintain a three to five year waiting period, and affordable housing is scarce. BAH provides medium term support to bridge the gap between the time a person loses shelter and the time which they can establish a new home, thus halting what is commonly a rapid decline towards various other forms of unnecessary hardship.
History
Begin Again Homes Inc. was started by a small group of concerned citizens, each of whom are business owners in Apache Junction and who had independently developed a strong desire to help the growing number of unsheltered individuals and families in the city. The board members organically connected with each other as their paths continued to cross due to shared participation in other local non-profit activities which provide supportive services to the unsheltered members of the community. The board is comprised of individuals with diverse educational backgrounds, ages, work history, and socioeconomic standing, yet they share a strong desire to help the unsheltered community and are tenacious and unwavering in their commitment to implement a sustainable solution.
